Expressive Arts and design

Expressive arts and design involves enabling children to explore and play with a wide range of media and materials, as well as providing opportunities and encouragement for sharing their thoughts, ideas and feelings through a variety of activities in art, music, movement, dance, role-play, and design and technology.

Creating with Materials:

Children will know how to safely use and explore a variety of materials, tools and techniques, experimenting with colour, design, texture, form and function. They will know how to share their creations and explain the processes they have used. They will know how to make use of props and materials when role-playing characters in narratives and stories

Being Imaginative and Expressive:

Children will know how to invent, adapt and recount narratives and stories with their peers and teachers. They will know how to sing a range of well-known nursery rhymes and songs. They will know how to perform songs, rhymes, poems and stories with others and try to move in time with music.
