Friday 29th January (Alien Words)

In today's lesson we learn about using Fred Talk to read alien words.

Note to Parents

Reading  nonsense words (alien words)  using phonetic knowledge is a skill we introduce mainly because children need to be able to do this for the phonics screening in Year 1. From now one we will have a go at this at the end of every phonics lesson.

Thursday 28th January (o)

Today we revisit the sound 'o' and we read and spell words containing 'o' and the 'special friend' sounds we have been learning. You will need a pencil and your orange book or a piece of paper.

Note to Parents

After watching today's lesson ask your child to use their Fred Talk and Fred Fingers to write the following words:

fog  mop  got   top   pot   dog  fox  

Wednesday 27th January (o)

In todays phonics lesson we review the sound 'e' and we read and we use Fred Talk and Fred Fingers to write words containing 'e'.

Note to Parents

After watching today's lesson ask your child to use their Fred Talk and Fred Fingers to write the following words:

then them beg leg men peg hen   

 

Tuesday 26th January (u)

In today's phonics lesson we revisit the sound 'u' and read words with the middle sound 'u' and the 'special friend' sounds we have been learning.

Note to Parents

After watching today's lesson ask your child to spell and read the following words using their letter cards:

cut bun fun hut mud rush much thud

Monday 25th January (i)

Today we revisit the sound 'i' and Mrs Ashberry and Fred the Frog use Fred Talk and Fred Fingers to spell and write words containing 'i' . You will need a pencil and your orange book or a piece of paper.
