Take One Building Project – Lucy Tower

 

On Monday 27th April Year Two went on a return trip to Lincoln Castle to see an exhibition of the work.  Not only did the children have the opportunity to see their own pieces of work on display, but also that of other children at schools around Lincolnshire.

Year Two were very interested in the work that had been done by others and spent a lot of time talking to the adults there, about the different pieces of work and activities.  They were a real credit to the school and were rewarded at the end with a drink and piece of cake.

It was a lovely morning with beautiful weather and we finished off with a short walk around the Cathedral and had the chance to see the flower mosaic, which depicts the Lancaster Bombers as they drop parachutes of food from the sky, in full bloom.

Zoolab came to visit Year Two as part of their topic on Minibeasts. The children had the chance to see and handle a Madagascan Cockroach, an African Snail and a Giant Millipede. They also had a surprise visit from a Corn Snake. As well as handling the animals they also found out lots of interesting facts.

Year Two took part in a Hindu dance workshop as part of their R.E. work on Hinduism. They learnt some classical Indian dance moves and hand gestures. They worked in pairs to create their own dance, using some of the moves that they had learnt. They had great fun trying on some costumes at the end of the workshop.

Fire safety. Adrian Jones from Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue came in to see Year Two to talk about fire safety. They learnt about the dangers of playing with fire and how to keep safe from fire in the home. Ella dressed up in a firefighters uniform and Bobby showed us how to ‘stop, drop and roll’.

Aspirations. Coach Ryan came into class and told the children why he became a Sports Coach and what he had to do to become one. He explained about having to study hard and like all sorts of sports. The children asked him if he had always wanted to be a Sports Coach. He said he had as he liked working with children and being able to help them develop their skills in different sports
