Welcome to Year 2
Muck, Mess and Mixtures
Year 2 and Nursery children had a fabulously messy afternoon together! They had a wonderful time with lots of messy mixtures including feet and hand paint printing, walking through flour and crunchy cornflakes, squidging our hands through gel and foam and we all had great fun!!
It was lovely to see our oldest and youngest children working so well together.
Chinese New Year
We celebrated Chinese New year in school this week.
We all took part in a Chinese dance workshop which was run by a lovely lady called Sol. She brought into school lots of Chinese parasols and fans for us to dance with.
Year 1 and Year 2 built together their very own Great Wall of China around school. It was amazing!! It was very long and went all the way around the school and the school hall. The children then got to walk it. Everyone showed great team work and worked together really well.
Mrs Denham held a Chinese Exercise Class at the start of the school day. We did it in the school hall as sadly it was raining outside. We learnt that in China, all children at school do exercises every morning.
We created some fabulous Art Work and looked at the colours and styles that are usually found in Chinese Art.
Please see our Gallery Page for lots of wonderful photographs of how we celebrated and learnt about China and Chinese New Year.
Year Two Castle Trip
Year Two had an amazing day at Lincoln Castle and took part in lots of different activities. We were very lucky as the rain stopped and we were able to walk up the spiral staircase and on to the Castle wall.
The children learnt how to put armour on and how to use a bow and arrow. Just before lunch they had a banquet, with fruit, cheese and biscuits and apple juice to drink. This was carefully served by the some year 2 servants and on the top table was the King, Queen, Lord and Lady.
In the afternoon they designed and made their own shields. They also had the chance to hold replica armour and try on some helmets.
A great day was had by all and lots of children were asleep on the way home!
