Paws, Claws and Whiskers

 

The topic for this term is Paws, Claws and Whiskers. This topic is very exciting as it looks at all different animals; household, wild and farm animals. The following is an outline of some of the things the children will be learning about;

Literacy; will explore traditional tales, instructions and poetry all relating to animals.

Numeracy; will be looking at 3 digit numbers, what they are made up of and how to read them. The children will be learning about different ways to pay for things and calculating what change they will receive.

Geography; the children will be looking at maps of different farms and zoo’s. They will think about how it is organised and create their own farm or zoo park.   

Music; will explore a range of beats and allow the children to develop their skills in following and making their own rhythm.  

P.E; the children will be undertaking athletics and games.

Art and DT: the children will sketch a range of animals and exploring patterns. .   

Ideas for you to help your child; please continue to support your child by reading to them every day, help them to be able to know the number bonds to 20 and 100. Encourage your child to practice skills they have learnt at school, such as weighing items, paying for things using different coins and thinking how much change they will get. We will be continuing to send spellings home on a Monday and there will be a spelling test on a Friday. Please help your child to learn their spellings. The words range from the phonics they are learning, topic words or tricky words that they use in their writing.

We had great fun putting together our very own Bracebridge samba dance at our Brazilian workshop!

As part of our Brazil topic for this term we were lucky enough to have a Brazilian workshop where we learnt to samba. It was great fun! We even put together our very own Bracebridge samba dance!

We enjoyed the dinosaur workshop. We were able to find fossils and discovered all about different dinosaurs!
